Hello my name is Ellen Jervis. I have 15 years experience with a church drama ministry in Casper, Wyoming. I wore a lot of hats - oddly enough not one was a cowboy hat. ha! I did everything from set design, set dresser, costume design, prop designs to writer, actor, and director. For a few years I used my art degree from the University of Wyoming to teach art in grades K through 12 - elementary being my favorite. My dream is to make a movie. Filmmaking fascinates me. I would love to participate in the process - if only to observe. Maybe someday I will have the chance. I love the theatre but I love films more. Don’t tell anyone okay. ;-). Presently, I am taking some time away from church activities. I am doing a good deal of reading and writing. I hope to have my first newspaper article published soon.

Hello everyone
I bring you greetings from a town called Orangeburg South Carolina. I have been in community theatre for 10yrs and recently decided to start a drama ministry at my church. I will be performing my first monologue on September 13th that will hopefully spark the interest of others to join in my ministry. Please pray for my and feel free to share any advice you can. I will need a lot of material to get started. It has not been easy to find christian material so feel free to pass the knowledge. God Bless you all!

Hey, My name is Kathy. I’m not crazy, but I’m passionate about communicating the truths of the Bible in anyway that will help people. I’m a nurse by trade. Spiritual gifts include really organized. I attend a small fun church in New Mexico that is attracting young people. Right now I’m it as far as heading up the drama. I work with the pastor and worship leader on drama ideas to go with the sermon. I come up with a rough outline, I gather props, call my actors and we get one run through right before the service. It is fun and interesting and a great learning curve. I would appreciate help from anyone else doing half improv, half drama with limited stage and budget.

I was cruisin’ over to the website today and saw that the CDF has become the Drama Blog - love it!!!
Anyway for those I don’t know…
I’m Becky Fox and I’m from Valparaiso, IN (about 45 min SE of Chicago). I head up the drama ministry at my church as well as serve on our Worship Ministry Team and on the leadership team of our Emerging Generation Service. I am also very active in local community theatre. I am honored to have been able to utilize Karl’s newest work in our most recent production. He asked if I’d write a show follow up for the newsletter so look for that in the future.
I can’t wait to meet many more of you!!

Hi,
I am hoping that someone here will know the name of a Christmas Musical that I am looking for. I saw it a few years back and I can remember the plot, but not the title. The setting is a big department store at Christmastime. The main character is a mother who works at the department store and she has a daughter. There’s some conflict about the store having a nativity scene in front….there’s also a bunch of kids who are news boys selling papers. I know this isn’t much, but if you can help me out my email address is robin.olivier@southwestschools.org.

I believe the musical is called Meet Me At The Manger, “Wise Men Still Follow Him Today.” Created by Celeste Clydesdale and Arranged by David T. Clydesdale

If that isn’t the one it is a close facsimile. I personally directed Meet Me At The Manger at my church about four years ago. The kids loved it, and so did all who came to see it.

We do a lot of drama for our small church. Dal and I co write the articles for TWO in Dramashare.

Hi! I am Laura Martin. Our church recently received the greatest blessing from God in the form of a new youth pastor. He is amazing, taking our youth group from just a few kids who really didn’t want to be there to over 90 kids who are completely on fire for the Lord in just 2 months. He wants to have most of our ministries youth-run, holding our teens to standards higher than they knew before and they are excelling! I get to start a drama team for them! Any tips?

I am the Director of Magnification at Crossroads Community church in Mansfield, Ohio. I oversee the music, Technical areas, Artists, Drama Group, staging and creation of the services.
I was unable to sustain a drama team, until I recreated it as a Drama Small Group, it took off! We are enjoying our very best season of drama thanks to this wonderful group. You can read an article I had published concerning the concept of Small Group vs. Team at TheWorshipCommunity.com.

Hello,
I’m the Children’s Director and I’m looking for Drama’s that Children can do. I love Salt and Light Min. I have used their site to order DVD for instuction a couple of times. I have not found anyone else so far that deals with Children’s Dramas. I do know however that children can do this and do a great job. I do have some movement songs they do but it is a little different from dramas. I also have a book and I do put them together myself with the help of a couple teenagers ay my local church that are gifted in this department. So, I do Praise God for that. I hope you can help me find more resources like Salt and Light Min.

Hi! Not sure if any of you guys remember me, it’s been about 4-5 years since I’ve been on your site. A ton of stuff happened and I ended up leaving the dramatic arts and my ministry of drama at my church. God has since worked miracles and has rekindled my love and my passion for his work in drama.I’m hoping to renew the drama ministry. My church has interest in drama, there are many that are gifted in this area, my Pastor is actually very hands on with the drama. God is at work and I don’t want to be the stumbling block. So, chances are I’ll be tossing out a ton of questions once more.
That said, after looking over the site, questions and help are now in specific categories, correct? Are the responses still out via email? Or. . . do I need to register/login to particular places to see them?

We did one about 11 years ago similar to that. It was called “Christmas Post”. lol Yeh, just noticed the date you posted. I’ve been gone for a long time. Definitely late for Christmas 2009, but might be an option for 2010.
