Using God-given Gifts

Read what the Bible says in Romans 12: 6-8;

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Does that make you a little uncomfortable? In my experience it usually does. We are probably the last ones to realize that we are gifted in areas we never thought about.
I was asked a long time ago to coach drama and speech. I said “okay here goes”. The Lord said that I had a gift. Now I am in my “grey” years, looking back, I do enjoy my gift. What I also learned was that with God’s strength behind me and His arms beneath me, I can face whatever lies ahead of me.
Okay what am I saying? The fall programs are here and the Pastor has asked you to look into the drama program. You want me to do what? After you rant for awhile, think it through. DramaShare is set up to deal with all your concerns and anxieties. We have always said that the best coaches and leaders are ones who don’t necessarily have experience but have empathy for the cast and crew. (which sometimes comes from bad experience or no experience).
With your Pastor’s permission start small with a monologue or sermon starter and go from there. I think you would be pleasantly surprised.
Contact us and let us help set up a model for you. That, along with a combination of willingness, co-operation and strong prayer support will get you started on the right foot! Just ask.
