What A Privilege

  • Cast Number: 7
  • Run-time: 7 minutes
  • Bible Reference: Mark 12:43

Giving, money, stewardship, tithe, tithing. This is a drama showing different ways people have been led to give, and also the scriptural importance of giving. Giving is not just monetary, as you'll see.

Sample of script:

#1: I only had two coins, but I didn’t really give it much thought. I clearly understood the enormous price He had paid for me, and it changed my attitude…and my heart…and my life. He didn’t think about my social status when he died…he thought of me. Giving those two copper coins that day, that was my privilege.

(PowerPoint or Narrator) Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything.” Mark 12:43

#2: In the grocery store there was a tug at my heart, and I probably can’t adequately explain it, but I just knew I should buy extra. On the way home, I realized why. I passed the home of a family who had visited our church last Sunday. They were new in town, and having a hard time settling in. He was searching for work, while she struggled to develop new friendships. I set the two bags on the doorstep, with a note welcoming them to the neighborhood. That day, the privilege was mine.

(PowerPoint or Narrator) God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Cor. 9:7#3: Years before, they took my husband’s life. And yet God called me to minister to those same men who murdered my husband. I wish I could say my answer was immediately yes, but I struggled with the thought of being face to face with those who so brutally robbed me of the man I loved so dearly. Yes, Lord, I will. And the day they bowed their heads before our Almighty King was nothing other than a miracle and an amazing privilege.

(PowerPoint or Narrator) “He is no fool to give up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.” Jim Elliott

#4: My wife and I wanted a child so desperately, and for one reason or another, just weren’t able to conceive. We longed for a baby to hold, a life to raise, and year after year we cried out to the Lord. One day we received a phone call. There was this young girl, just 15 in fact, who was pregnant…and scared. Someone had given her our names, and she called, herself, wondering if there was a possibility that we could raise her baby as our own. She could have chosen death, but instead she gave us the most amazing gift…life. Because she gave, we now have the privilege of raising this precious little girl.

(PowerPoint or Narrator) Whatever you did for the least of these, you did it for me. Matt 25:40

#5: Off in the distance, I could see a man lying alongside the road. He was so bloody, and at first, I didn’t even know if he was alive. I ran to him, quite stunned that no one had offered him any help at all. I bandaged his wounds, and took him to the nearest inn, and paid for his care. Until someone later mentioned it, it never really occurred to me that we were from a different race…opposing races, as a matter of fact. He needed help, and I helped him. And I considered it a privilege!
