About Us

Proud to be serving in churches with congregations from a handful of people to thousands, as well as colleges, schools, groups, homeschoolers, missionaries and individuals. Our “DramaShare Method” and materials have been proven over the last 35+ years, to more than 80,000 clients in 80 countries around the world.

Our logo, a proud holdover from the very beginning of our ministry, symbolizes what we have stood for over the years, “valid, Bible based, engaging and entertaining expressions of God-honoring ‘preaching’ dramatically!” We are relevant in today’s world, using family-friendly, appropriate, often “off-the-wall” humor to do so, but, (in the words of one of our mentors, Red Skelton), “never using a flushing toilet to get a laugh.” Our ministry is, we pledge, representative of what our logo indicates, using God-honoring methods, engaging writing and well trained amateur actors to deliver a message, equal or superior to the best of community theatre. But, always “under the cross of Jesus Christ!” And while we aim to be entertaining, our intent is, and will continue to use live performances which are the only method of creating a sustainable Christian ministry within and beyond the walls of caring local churches and groups. We have always, and always will, resist the idea of  providing video performances which can be “nothing more than entertainment!”* (Quote from Church Ministry magazine on the use of using video rather than live theatre).

Our methods, known as “the DramaShare Method,” (appropriate in the largest church but even moreso in the smallest), focuses on well-trained, not-overused actors and volunteers who commit to short term “dramatic preaching” acting opportunities and also take their turn at behind the scenes opportunities. In our DramaShare workshops we focus on multi-skilling since it is good to see what happens when an actor learns “being that person on lighting” learns how greatly important, and sometimes very difficult, that seemingly “easy-peezey” job actually is!
And we learn that simply handing out a script can be incredibly counter-productive. The DramaShare Method shows we need to first know the basic “Who-Am-I?” before the lines are seen, let alone learned! We learn through study, but also through fun, team building activities like “Improving Through Improv-ing” techniques, as outlined in DramaShare’s Improv Manual, a part of our Premium Membership & 6 Core Manuals Package.” . . . Even learning the “Oooopsies technique” (what to do when the thing turns into a disaster as someone loses their lines!)

One final comment on launching drama in the church . . If the Pastor, Music Minister, and others in supervisory positions aren’t “on board and committed” . .  don’t try creative arts ministry since it simply won’t work! Long term commitment and planning is essential!

But if you get your “church-wide acting” together, with children, teens, young adults, men, women’s groups and seniors on board . .  the results could have out-of-this-world results!

We are constantly writing new materials, often to the specs of DramaShare members. We ask that you help maintain this ministry through DramaShare membership. And we ask as well that if you have any input, whether positive or negative, please contact our founder John Alexander, who opens, reads and responds to every email message, ([email protected]), answers every phone call, (1-877-363-7262), toll-free throughout North America, or by sending us a message at the “CONTACTUS” tab.

Doing Drama

Drama ministry – preaching the Word of God through drama. An excellent drama for recruiting people of all ages, for all roles on or off stage, especially amateurs, for the drama program and to get more interest and involvement in the drama program in the church.
