Great Commission Christian

Great Commission Christian

$10.00 (USD)

A clear understanding of God’s vision for your life, and following God’s great commission. We sometimes doubt God’s calling. Are we equipped enough to tell others. With faith, prayer and hard work we will always be ready. A monologue with offstage voice.

Sample of script:

Actor, totally alone walks on stage, mumbling to herself.

Perfect! How am I supposed to be perfect? (notices the audience sitting there) Oh, I didn’t realize you were here. Sorry for my mumbling, but it’s just that I was at this Bible study. Really tough topic – “aiming to be Christ-like”.

Of course, as a Christian I want to be more like Jesus, but as a human I don’t see how that’s possible.

You see, the pastor read a verse that really stuck with me. It’s . . . oh, here, I’ll read it. (looks up in her Bible) Matthew 5:48. “But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Perfect! (looking up from the Bible) Perfect! That means totally without mistake! How can I do that living in a secular world? I am the only Christian where I work. The radio and TV inundates me with garbage constantly! How am I supposed to be perfect? I get this vision of being a perfect person. Seems to me that’s a tough vision to run with!

The pastor talked about being a Great Commission Christian. He gave out a list of things that make us a Great Commission Christian. I think I left it in the car. (thinking) A few I can remember: living simply. Look around, can’t get much more simple than this, do you think? What else? Make prayer your first work. Fellowship with those who share your faith, regardless of color or culture. Oh, there were more!
I mean, how is someone supposed to live up to that standard? I can sure try . . . I want to try, but I just don’t think that me all alone in this secular world can do it.
(sighs, goes back flipping through Bible. Stops briefly at one spot, moves on, frowns, goes back)
