Mother!  What  are  you  doing?

ELLOISE

There’s  a  hurricane  a’comin’.

SALLY

A  hurricane  A’COMIN?

ELLOISE

Yeah!  In  the  south,  when  something  really  big  is  about  to happen,  they  put  the  “Ah”  in  front  of  it.

SALLY

Mother!  We  live  in  the  middle  of  Arizona.  Where  did  you  get this  crazy  weather  report?

ELLOISE

I  was  talking  to  Gladys  Feldman  this  morning.  [HESITATING]

SALLY

And?

ELLOISE

And  she  woke  up  with  a  leg  cramp.  Need  I  say  more?

SALLY

Is  this  the  same  Gladys  Feldman  who  predicted  a  blizzard  in the Bahamas?

What’s  your  point?

ELLOISE

SALLY

Mother,  even  if  there  was  a  hurricane  A’COMIN’…

ELLOISE

Don’t  patronize  me,  Sally.

SALLY

I’m  not  patronizing  you,  Mother.  I’m  A’Mockin’  you!  Listen, mother,  even  if  there  was  a  hurricane  coming,  why  should  we be  so  fearful.  Do  you  not  remember  Pastor  Herman’s  message last Sunday?

ELLOISE

Vaguely.  I’m  lucky  if  I  can  remember  the  names  of  my  own children.

SALLY

Mother…  he  spoke  on  Fear.  Remember?  He  was  speaking  in regards  to  second  Timothy  chapter  one,  verse  seven  –  “For  God hath  not  given  us  the  spirit  of  fear;  but  of  power,  and  of love,  and  of  a  sound  mind.”

ELLOISE

Oh,  yeah.  Well,  I  can  relate  to  the  power  and  love  but  as  for the  sound  mind…

SALLY

Mother,  we  have  no  reason  to  fear  anything.  Think  about  it. God  himself  created  the  wind  and  rain.  He  brings  the hurricanes,  the  rains  and  winds  that  seem  so  fierce  and threatening.  However,  He’s  in  control.
