Actress enters, head bowed, kneels praying at CS, speaks

And so, dear Lord, I approach your throne of mercy with thanksgiving and praise. Glory be to God for all You have done. Amen.

Looks at audience, speaks

Amazing. God’s power is just amazing. Who would have thought that we would have made it here. Certainly not I. Certainly not the entire town, back home.

thinking, smiling

Home. I shall miss home. But I know this was God’s will for us. Imagine what would have happened to us if my dear husband Noah hadn’t listened to the Almighty’s voice? I suppose I wouldn’t be here today to thank and give praise to God for His promise.

I am truly thankful, really. Thankful of course to God His faithfulness to us as a family. Also, I am thankful to my dear Noah, for his unbreakable will and determination. Truly unbreakable. I remember the days while Noah was fulfilling God’s command in building this great boat – there wasn’t a person who would walk by that didn’t have a sour comment for my Noah.

They laughed at him, they teased him something terrible. Yet he still charged ahead and built that boat.
And I am so proud of my sons, as well. All three of them. They faced the same humiliation that their father did through all of this.
But in the same determined fashion of their father, they simply put their heads down and continued their work. Amazing. The ridicule they faced, and yet still they knew what God wanted of them. While all others scorned them, they obeyed their Eternal Father.

That must have been difficult for them. They weren’t used to this kind of treatment. Our family was generally well liked and respected. So to go from that level in the community to being the literal laughing stock, it must have been hard.

Me, I’m used to the jeers, the constant thoughtless comments. Not because I typically am involved in such controversial projects like this. No, because I am a woman. And like all women, I have gotten used to this sort of behavior directed at me. In our culture, women are not exactly held in high regard. We are here to serve and nothing more. So, as I say, comments such as the ones we as a family received were not unlike the comments that myself and my three daughters-in-law faced everyday. I guess we have learned to look past the rubble, if you will, and cling to something far more positive, more solid.

Turning, looking around.

So – here we are now, searching for a new home. Searching. That thought has been with me ever since we began our journey. What will always be one of my fondest memories of this incredible experience will be about a bird. I know that sounds trite, when I consider all that we have been through and all that we have left behind. But, I will always remember that bird – a dove, to be exact. Adhering to God’s command, when it was the appropriate time, Noah set free a dove from the ark to search for land.

I remember waiting for that dove to return. After the chores were managed, I would peer out that tiny window for hours and hours, straining for the first glimpse of his return. I would pray that the dove would bring back a sign of land. But, as I have learned time and time again, things happen in God’s timing, not mine. The dove returned not having found land. Discouraged, I knew that God would hear our prayers and would not abandon us after He brought us this far.
