The 12 Minute Victory

The 12 Minute Victory

$10.00 (USD)

This sketch illustrates how a leader might lead the group in a time of prayer in bringing out praise items.

Sample of script:

Leader: We all here? Good. Now then, welcome again to our group. For those who are new here, my name is (leader). I want to remind you that we are big on participation in this group. Now then, we are going to pray, but, before we do, what are we praying about? This week I have sensed God’s leading me to think in terms of victories I have received in the life of my family. Are there victories in your family that you would like to talk to God about? Remember that victories come in many forms, shapes and sizes. Tonight let’s think of victories as a whole, not necessarily from the standpoint of the big victory. Who wants to go first?

Lawrence: I have a victory to thank God for. Today marks my tenth anniversary of sobriety. Through God’s goodness I have not had a drink for almost 88,000 hours. In case you didn’t realize it, that’s the number of hours in the last ten years. And, although I am still a recovering alcoholic, and will be until the day I die, I praise God for giving me the strength to walk with Him during this time. The memories of what I used to be before He rescued me, are as fresh in my mind now as they were ten years ago. I want to thank God for ten years of victory.

Betty: I guess I used to think of victories from the perspective of the big victory. As a successful businessperson, I was not unfamiliar with big victories. Some of the recent changes in my life have brought me to looking at victory from the perspective of the big picture, rather than the big victory.

As many of you know, I was diagnosed as having FM, that’s short for a really yucky disease called fibromyalgia. It often carries with it two other unpleasant diseases, CFS and IBS. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is just what the name suggests, it leaves the person in a constant state of feeling totally worn out, even when getting out of bed in the morning. And Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a constant companion which no one would want.
