Terry and Dawn come on stage
Terry: Hi Dawn, what’s happenin’?
Dawn: Nothing much Terry, just bringing my little sister to church, apparently they are having some kind of Easter thing for the kids.
Terry: Me too, kind of a drag, I really wanted to go to the mall.
Michael comes on stage
Dawn: Hey Michael, how’s things?
Michael: Still half asleep here Dawn. . . These early mornings on Saturday gross me out.
Terry: Me too, the only morning I can sleep in and suddenly I have to be babysitter to my brother and half the kids on our block.
Dawn: If the church wanted to have some Easter program surely they could do their rehearsals at a decent time of day.
Robin comes on stage
Robin: Hi guys, thanks for bringing the kids for practice.
Terry: About how long do you think this is gonna last?
Robin: Oh not long, we should be all done in about an hour.
Terry: Oh man! . . .
Dawn: I wonder, can someone bring my sister home when the rehearsal is over?
Robin: Sorry we can’t do that, we don’t have the people available, and as well all children under the age of 12 must have a responsible adult here at all times. . .
Michael: What kind of rule is that?
Robin: Sorry but it is the rule.
Terry: So we just sit here bored out of our minds until this . . . thing . . . is over?
Robin: Well, I could offer you a good deal on coming with me and helping the kids with their lines.
Dawn: Exciting as that offer is, . . . . no!
Robin: OK kids, we need to practice our song. are you ready?
all younger actors join in
Song: Do You Know The Reason Why, to tune of “Do You Know The Muffin Man”
Do you know the reason why?
The reason why?
The reason why?
Do you know the reason why?
We celebrate Easter
Yes I know the reason why
The reason why
The reason why
Yes I know the reason why
We celebrate Easter
Jesus is the reason why
The reason why
The reason why
Jesus is the reason why
We celebrate Easter
Jesus died and rose again
He rose again
He rose again
Jesus died and rose again
And now he is in heaven.
I’m so glad it’s Easter time
It’s Easter time
It’s Easter time
I’m so glad it’s Easter time
Thank you dear Lord Jesus!
Robin: That was very good kids!
Now then I need the Easter Egg and Wabbit to get costumes on.
Terry, unbelieving:
“The Easter Egg”?
Michael: Worse . . . “The Wabbit”?
Dawn: I thought this was a church Easter program, what gives with Easter eggs and some rabbit?
Robin glances over at the other actors, signals them to be quiet
Egg and Wabbit start to put on costumes
Egg: You have no idea how much I hate this costume!
Wabbit: Try putting up with these ears and a dumb tail.
Egg: Do we really have to do this?
Wabbit: How come we have to Robin?
Robin: Because it’s in the script, now let’s run through some lines.
Charlie, it starts with you . . .
