SCENE 1 – Family on platform.
Father is encouraging family to hurry up and get ready to watch Touched By An Angel. Video playing on TV Audio playing on tape deck, both from actual TV program.

Dad: Come on everyone, let's get ready to watch our favourite family TV show. We only have five minutes before Touched By An Angel begins.

Mom: It sure is great to have a decent family program to watch on TV. There is so much garbage that we choose not to watch. Thank God for some good TV.

Dave: Yeah, I hear the guys at school talk about some of the blue TV that is on, and boy from what they say, it is really bad.”

Dottie: And the girls think that it is so cool to be degraded into a sex object like some of the programs do. I try and help them to think better of themselves but sometimes they just laugh at me as though I was from another planet.

Dad: Well, dear, when we stand up for the right like Jesus asked us to do, you can count on being laughed at. But don't let that discourage you, because down deep inside, they really respect you for your stand. And Christ knows all about it as well.

Mom: OK, here it is – it is just beginning.

Theme music for TBAA show begins – volume turned up slightly.

Taped narrative: We interrupt tonight's regularly scheduled edition of Touched By An Angel to bring you this special presentation.

Monica: Tess, why are we interrupting the regular schedule tonight?

Tess: Well, honey child, you know Touched By An angel has had a really successful rating. In fact, some other shows like, Walker, Texas Ranger and Promised Land have even borrowed the theme of angels for some of their shows. Touched By An Angel has even been nominated for some Emmy awards.

Monica: Yes, I know, Tess, but isn't that all the more reason not to interrupt a good thing?

Tess: Child, you know that our goal is for people to understand the truth. You know the Bible says “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. So what is important is that people understand that, while Touched By An Angel is just a TV program, angels really are real. Some people might think that they are just TV magic or Hollywood imagination.

Monica: Oh, I see. we want to help them know that while we are actors, there really are real angels.

Tess: Now you're catching on child. God has always had His special messengers to do His bidding and perform His special ministry to humans. And so tonight we want to see some real angel encounters. In fact, these were very, very special angel encounters. Let's watch the program now and you'll see what I mean.

Tape stops.

Dottie: Hey, this sounds neat!

Dave: Cool!

Mom: I knew we should have set the VCR for this one. Oh, well, maybe it will be on in the reruns.

Dad: OK, here it come now! Listen…..

Lights on platform out. Curtain opens and lights on in baptistry.

SCENE 2 Angel & Zacharias – Luke 1:5-25

Narrator (Luke 1:5-13a) There was in the days of Herod the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years. So it was that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.
Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said to him……

Angel #1 (Luke 1:13b-17) Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard: and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Zacharias: (Luke 1:18): How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.

Angel #1 (Luke 1:19-20): I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.

Narrator (Luke 1:21-25): And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he lingered so long in the temple. But when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he beckoned to them and remained speechless. So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, “Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
