Sample of script:

MR. STEADMAN sits alone, mourning, wiping tears from his eyes with a handkerchief. He hears a knock on the door but doesn't move. The knocking becomes stronger, more insistent. He waves at the door as if to send them away. The knocking continues. Exasperated, STEADMAN gets up and opens the door to a VISITOR, a young man holding a package in his hands.

VISITORAre you Mr. Steadman, the art collector?

VISITORSir, you don't know me but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly.

STEADMAN turns and leads VISITOR into the room before sitting again in his chair.

VISITOR(admiring paintings on wall)He often talked about you and your love for art, how the two of you would sit for hours admiring these paintings.

VISTIOR holds out the package to STEADMAN.

VISITORI know it isn't much. I'm not really a great artist. I painted your son...I think he'd want you to have this.

VISITOR exits.

After some time, STEADMAN unwraps the package. He looks at the portrait. (Pause) He smiles.

With a sudden heart attack, he leans back and dies.
