Laura: Is this where we are supposed to be?
Joyce: Tara, your message was hard to understand.
Debi: I came over as quick as I could Tara, your message sounded really urgent.
Tara: And urgent it is too Debi. So let’s get at it! Welcome mon friends . . .
Joyce, confused: “Mon friends”?
Tara, proud: I took a French class.
Joyce: “Friends” is French?
Tara: I think I missed that class.
Laura: Tara, your message said something about a new company policy from the boss.
Tara: Not so much a new policy as an SSS.
Laura: “SSS”?
Tara: Yep, a straightforward statement of intent.
Debi: A “straightforward statement of intent” is an “SSS”?
Joyce: Maybe SSI.
Laura: Or SFSI.
Tara: Regardless, it’s SSS.
Debi: OK, well what does it mean?
Tara: SSS? It means a straightforward statement of intent.
Debi: And . . . .?
Tara: OK, well here’s what came down from Home Office.
(takes paper, clears throat and reads)
To our employees. What do you think the Organization expects from you? Just this: You are expected to work with respect for the Organization, follow the overall plan which the Organization has set out. Appreciate and serve in this Organization by giving your all, in skill and ability. Comply with the rules and regulations of the Organization as you are instructed. This policy, the rules, regulations and instructions has one result: do this and all will go well for you.
Joyce: And that means?
Tara: Means?
Joyce: Yeah, explain what it all means.
Tara: Actually I read better than I explain.
Debi: Well somebody’s gotta figure this out.
Tara, hands paper to Laura:
Laura, maybe you can make sense of this, you are a lawyer.
Laura, confused: I work in a pizza restaurant.
Tara: Close enough, go ahead, figure this out.
