We are looking for the right kind of fabric as we discovered that not all flourescent fabric will respond to blacklight. Where might I find fabric suitable for making puppets
for blacklight? Any ideas?
I know that One Way Street sells some. Beyond that is it is very hit-and-miss. You really need to take a battery-operated black light when you go shopping (Wal-Mart has one for around $12). Anything that looks “Day Glow” is possibly fluorescent… but no guarantees. That is why you need to test with the battery-operated blacklight.
I have seen fluorescent dye by Rit, but I have never used it to know how successful it really is. Another technique is to paint the fabric with fluorescent paint after the puppet is sewn.
